Spike #24 queued — MFO space-gauge-time framework (1D ↔ 11D = 3D_s + 7D_g + 1D_t, dimensional-inverse conjecture)¶
Date queued: 2026-05-15. Status: spec only; dispatch pending NN-output spike completion (queue order: SHA-256 ✓ → NN-output (in flight) → THIS). Post-dispatch: the bonus 5 synthesis REFINED-and-confirmed the conjecture; canonical framework name space-gauge-time per [[project_space_gauge_time_framework]].
Domain: MFO (Metric Field Ontology), [[project_mfo_sister_notebook]]. NOT a Spike #24 vocabulary inquiry; this is a sister-notebook MFO spike.
Canonical decomposition: 1D ≡ space-gauge-time ≡ 3D_s + 7D_g + 1D_t = 11D (per [[project_space_gauge_time_framework]]). The subscripted-D notation avoids conflict with manifold notation (S¹, S², T³, T⁷, SU(n), GF(2^256), AMSC tier T0/T1/T2/T3) — S/G/T as standalone letters would collide with multiple existing usages.
The user's question (verbatim, load-bearing)¶
"MFO research spike. 1D is 11D compressed or expressed. but it's also 3D+7D+1D. where there are not real but very consequential things in 3D, it is probably the inverse in 7D, thus we must sum the real from all dims to find 1D and 11D structure. it's okay to take a falsified a new direction"
The user has explicitly authorised falsification AND pivoting if the conjecture doesn't hold ("it's okay to take a falsified a new direction"). The hypothesis is a sharp, testable proposal — and the user is granting the concertmaster latitude to follow data wherever it leads.
The conjecture decomposed¶
Four claims, each separately testable:
-
1D ↔ 11D compression-expression duality. The 1D quantity is the 11D content compressed (or, equivalently, the 11D content is 1D expressed/uncompressed). Same object, different resolutions. This is a holographic / dimensional-reduction claim — what is the holographic direction here, and what is the projection operator that compresses 11D → 1D?
-
11 = 3 + 7 + 1 decomposition (NOT the usual 3+1 + 7 of M-theory / Cremmer-Julia-Scherk). The user is splitting time from BOTH 3D space AND 7D internal as its own 1D dimension. This is unusual and worth recording. Compare:
- M-theory: 11D = 4D Minkowski (3+1) + 7D Calabi-Yau
- User's split: 11D = 3D spatial + 7D internal + 1D temporal (time NOT bundled with spatial)
-
Connection to
[[user_stance_time_as_dimensional_shadow]]: time as its own dimensional category, not bundled into a Lorentzian 4-vector. The split honors that stance. -
3D ↔ 7D inverse ontology. This is the sharpest claim. "Where there are not real but very consequential things in 3D, it is probably the inverse in 7D."
Non-real-but-consequential in 3D — observable examples to start a catalog: - Virtual particles (consequential through Casimir, Lamb shift, vacuum polarization; not real as individual events). - Gauge degrees of freedom (consequential through Aharonov-Bohm; not real as gauge-variant observables). - Statistical regularities (consequential for thermodynamics, fluid dynamics; not real as individual microstates). - Wavefunction amplitudes (consequential for probabilities; not real as direct measurements). - Expectation values (consequential for QFT, statistical mechanics; not real as single observations). - Symmetry constraints (consequential as conservation laws; not real as direct objects).
Inverse-in-7D (the conjecture) — what would the inverse look like? - Reading A: things that are real but inconsequential (real values of compactified moduli that don't affect 3D physics directly). Symmetric-opposite of "consequential-but-not-real." - Reading B: things that are real and consequential at 7D but appear non-real and consequential at 3D under projection. I.e., the same ontological content appears under different aspects depending on which dimensional subspace you observe it from. This is the dual reading. - Reading C: something else entirely. The "inverse" might be a different relation — perhaps reciprocal, perhaps complementary, perhaps duality-of-rôles.
The concertmaster's job is to operationalize "inverse" precisely enough to test which reading (A, B, C, or other) is consistent with both project framings and observable physics.
- "Sum the real from all dims to find 1D and 11D structure." The reconstruction recipe: integrate / sum / aggregate the real contributions across all dimensional subspaces (3D + 7D + 1D) to recover the 1D-compressed-equivalent-of-11D total content. This is a complementarity principle applied to ontology — the real content is distributed across dimensions, no single dimension carries the whole, summation across dimensions recovers the totality.
The methodological parallel (antiquity geocentric → modern 4D-centric)¶
The user added a load-bearing framing during dispatch-queue time (verbatim):
"just like the greeks instantiate a geocentric model of the cosmos, the same primitives reveal the truth. Science is trying to do the same with 4D space-time centric is blinding us because we remain oblivious is not refutible without a spectral graph. they would make the same GR-QM Epicycle to make 4D appear correct and the math would support it, but the primitives are hiding in the nonlinear because that's the nature of nonlinear."
This is the methodological discriminator the concertmaster MUST internalize before dispatch. Decomposed:
-
The antiquity-cosmology parallel. Geocentric cosmology was an antiquity-wide pattern — Babylonian astronomers, Egyptian frameworks, Hellenistic Greek (Antikythera mechanism, Ptolemaic Almagest). The Antikythera mechanism is one Hellenistic-Greek instance; the methodological pattern is much broader. PR #416's algebraic-uniqueness synthesis (§11.6.17 of the antikythera-spectral notebook) established that the bronze's pin-slot algebra IS Kepler's equation-of-centre — the SAME primitives that work in the heliocentric frame. The primitives carry truth across frame choices. Antiquity's geocentric models were "wrong about which body is central" but "right about what the primitives are." Spike #24 has now confirmed this same primitive vocabulary across 6 substrates without ever once depending on which inertial frame we use.
-
The 4D-spacetime-centric analog. Modern physics chose 4D spacetime as its unifying frame. GR + QM live happily inside it but won't combine. Every attempt to unify produces structural pathologies (renormalization, fine-tuning, anthropic arguments, dark matter as parameter rather than primitive, the cosmological constant problem). The user's conjecture: this is the same kind of error — a frame choice that fits its own math but is concealing the deeper structure. Just as Ptolemy could add epicycles to make geocentric predictions work, GR-QM unification can add ontological epicycles to make 4D work. The math would support it. It would not be wrong locally. But it would also not be the truth.
-
"Not refutable without a spectral graph." This is the load-bearing claim the concertmaster must operationalize. A pure-perturbative-in-4D analysis (which is what most physics does) cannot distinguish a "real" 4D foundation from a "compressed-projection" 4D foundation — they're locally identical. Only a spectral-graph analysis (Class L on the substrate's eigenbasis, Class K Kepler-shape detection on dimensional projections) can surface the structural signature that says "this 4D-looking thing is the compressed image of a 3+7+1 decomposition." If the conjecture can be FALSIFIED by spectral-graph methods, it has bite. If it cannot, it is just metaphysics.
-
"The primitives are hiding in the nonlinear because that's the nature of nonlinear." Linear / perturbative analysis preserves frame structure — that's its job, and that's why it can't see frame choice errors. Nonlinear interactions are where dimensional decomposition matters, because nonlinearity is exactly where multiple subspaces couple together. The primitives that distinguish 3+7+1 from 3+1+7 from "just 4D" live in coupling terms, not free-propagation terms. Project precedent: Spike #24 Phase 9.2 found Kepler-shape integer-harmonics in mass-action ODEs (Lotka-Volterra, Brusselator, Oregonator) — those harmonics live entirely in nonlinear coupling terms; the linear part of those ODEs has no Kepler-shape signature.
What this changes for the concertmaster¶
Two strict methodological consequences:
-
The falsifier MUST be a spectral-graph operation. Not a curve-fit, not a math-consistency check, not a parameter-search. A spectral signature that distinguishes 3+7+1 decomposition from pure-4D. Concretely: build a Class-L Laplacian on some test substrate's eigenbasis, project onto candidate 3+7+1 vs 4D decompositions, look for Kepler-shape harmonic distinguishability between the two projections. If the two projections produce identical spectra under all proposed metrics, the conjecture is unfalsifiable by current tooling and the verdict is "spectral-tooling gap to be filled, not conjecture falsified."
-
The honest-verdict space adds a fourth outcome. Not just confirmed / refined / falsified-new-direction, but a fourth: "unfalsifiable-at-current-tooling — spectral-graph machinery insufficient to distinguish 3+7+1 from 4D." That outcome is itself a real finding — it would mean the user's methodological claim ("not refutable without a spectral graph") is correct AND the project's current spectral tooling isn't yet sharp enough to do the test. That would identify a project-internal R&D direction.
Cross-substrate prediction this enables¶
If the conjecture holds (in any of the three confirming verdicts), it predicts: the same primitive vocabulary (Spike #24 Classes A–N) that consolidates across 6 substrates should ALSO consolidate across the 3+7+1 dimensional projections of MFO. That is: 3D-spatial substrate, 7D-internal substrate, and 1D-temporal substrate, separately analyzed, should each yield the same primitive classes. If they don't — if any class is uniquely 3D, uniquely 7D, or uniquely 1D — that's a refinement signal showing where the dimensional decomposition lives algebraically.
If the conjecture fails (falsified-new-direction outcome), the user's stance that "the primitives are hiding in the nonlinear" still teaches us something: it means the failure mode is frame-independent, which is a stronger statement than the conjecture itself, and that's also worth landing.
Connection to existing project state¶
[[project_mfo_sister_notebook]]— Metric Field Ontology lives indocs/antikythera-maths/mfo_spectral_research_notebook.md. This is the foundational ontology layer.[[project_mfo_mpm_orchestration_findings]]— central computation §XIII.1 remains open; 18-block geometric count from D₃ irrep multiplicities on SG λ=6 = 3 × 6 SM charged-fermion components; chain-tierd_S/2 ≈ 0.5across 4 construction methods.[[user_stance_hyper_as_3d_spatial_interface]]— "hyper denotes 3D-spatial-interface; spherical compression scopes to 3D-spatial-physical phenomena (not hyperdimensional-algebraic constructions)." TWO-LEVEL ontology: metric-field substrate + localization-spectrum excitations. The 11D = 3+7+1 conjecture extends the two-level ontology to a three-level dimensional ontology, where 3D and 7D have inverse-character ontological status and 1D is the compressed unifier.[[user_stance_fiber_as_spatially_absent_encoding]]— algebraic content as fiber over a discrete base; 7D could be the spatially-absent fiber, 3D the spatially-present projection. This reading of "inverse" maps onto the spec's Reading B.[[user_stance_time_as_dimensional_shadow]]— time as projection-deficit; the 1D-temporal slot in the 11=3+7+1 split honors this by keeping time its own dimension rather than bundling it with space.[[user_stance_pi_as_projection]]— integer-cyclic upstream, continuous downstream. If 7D is fiber/upstream and 3D is projection/downstream, the conjecture should respect pi-as-projection asymmetry.[[user_stance_string_theory_instrument_first]]— wiggle-in-isolation critique; the user holds string-theory at instrument-first stance. This MFO spike is not string theory; it's an MFO conjecture using the 11D number that string theories share but with a different decomposition and different ontological commitments.
What the concertmaster should do (dispatch later, not now)¶
- Read the MFO notebook first —
docs/antikythera-maths/mfo_spectral_research_notebook.md. Identify which sections speak to the 11D structure (§VII.1.1 for the two-level ontology is the explicit hook; §XIII.1 central computation if it's load-bearing). - Formalize the conjecture precisely. Pick one operationalization of "inverse" (Reading A / B / C / something else) and commit to it for the test. The choice is methodological; the concertmaster should document why.
- Build a catalog of "non-real-but-consequential in 3D" phenomena. Be specific: which observables, which experimental signatures, what makes them "consequential" without being "real" in the ontological sense the project's metric-field substrate uses.
- Propose the 7D inverse for each 3D entry. What would the inverse phenomenon look like under the chosen operationalization? Is there a known candidate (moduli stabilisation, hidden-sector dynamics, compactification effects, gauge groupoid structure)?
- Test the "sum the real" recipe. For a specific 3D phenomenon + its proposed 7D inverse, does the recipe give a consistent 1D compressed value? Or does it produce contradictions / multiple inconsistent values?
- Honest verdict. Four possible outcomes (the user explicitly authorised the first three; the fourth was added with the antiquity-geocentric framing addendum):
- Confirmed: the conjecture is consistent with observable physics under operationalization X, AND a spectral-graph operation distinguishes 3+7+1 decomposition from pure-4D within achievable precision. Here's the 1D structure summed across dimensions.
- Refined: the conjecture is partially right; here's the refinement (which reading of "inverse" works, which doesn't, what the modified summing recipe looks like, and what spectral signature the refined version produces).
- Falsified — new direction: the conjecture is wrong in its current form; here's what the data points at instead. The user explicitly said "it's okay to take a falsified a new direction" — the concertmaster is authorised to propose a different MFO ontological-decomposition if the original doesn't hold, including frame-independent failure modes (which would still teach something about where primitives hide in nonlinear coupling).
- Unfalsifiable-at-current-tooling: the conjecture's spectral-graph falsifier requires machinery the project doesn't currently have. The two candidate decompositions (3+7+1 and pure-4D) produce identical spectra under every metric the concertmaster could construct. This outcome is itself a real finding — it means the user's methodological claim ("not refutable without a spectral graph") is correct AND the spectral-graph tooling needs further development. Identify the specific spectral-graph machinery gap as a project-internal R&D direction.
Discipline guards¶
- The antiquity-geocentric methodological parallel is load-bearing. Re-read its section before starting. The falsifier MUST be a spectral-graph operation; pure-perturbative-in-4D analyses cannot test the conjecture. Project precedent: PR #416's algebraic-uniqueness synthesis (Antikythera bronze pin-slot = Kepler equation-of-centre, same primitives across substrates regardless of frame). Modern physics is in the antiquity-geocentric position; spectral-graph methods are how Spike #24 has consistently surfaced primitives that perturbative analysis hides.
- NOT a string theory spike. Per
[[user_stance_string_theory_instrument_first]], the project critiques string theory's wiggle-in-isolation methodology. This MFO spike uses the same dimension count (11) coincidentally; it is not claiming string-theoretic structure or building on string-theoretic results. Don't import string-theory lineage; honour[[feedback_no_lineage_claims_in_notebook]]. - Stay defensive per
[[feedback_trauma_informed_defensive_scope]]. MFO is physics-foundational; no defense-adjacent claims, no targeting / capability-assessment. Methodological / structural / ontological inquiry only. - No new primitive class invented at the srmech vocabulary level. This is an MFO ontology spike; Spike #24's primitive vocabulary (Classes A–N) is not the right object here. The deliverable is MFO-notebook content (probably §VII or §XIII territory), not Spike #24 vocabulary.
- Cite primary literature properly per
[[feedback_pdf_extraction_citation_discipline]]. Cremmer-Julia-Scherk 1978 (11D supergravity); Yamabe 1960 (already cached) for conformal geometry; Calabi-Yau references where load-bearing.[unverified-secondary]tags otherwise. - NDJSON for tabular outputs.
- Falsification is honourable. The user explicitly authorised it. Don't grease the verdict if data disagrees.
Files this spike would produce (dispatch-time)¶
docs/srmech/notes/spike_24_bonus_mfo_11d_ontology_decomposition_2026-05-15.md— methodological synthesis (the deliverable).docs/srmech/notes/spike_24_bonus_mfo_dimensional_inverse_catalog_2026-05-15.{py,ndjson}— if the concertmaster builds a concrete catalog of 3D-non-real-but-consequential ↔ 7D-inverse phenomena, that's its NDJSON home.- Possibly an update to
docs/antikythera-maths/mfo_spectral_research_notebook.mdif findings are notebook-worthy.
Dispatch ordering¶
Per user direction "let's stick to one subagent at a time":
Phase 15✓ committedSHA-256 queued✓ committed- NN-output queued — ✓ completed (bonus 4 synthesis landed)
- THIS spike — dispatches after NN-output reports and is committed.
The user may request a different ordering when summary lands; this spec stays valid regardless.
Why this question is well-formed (methodological note)¶
The user has named four separately-testable claims, granted explicit falsification permission, and tied the inquiry to existing MFO-notebook scaffolding. The conjecture is sharp in the way "constraint manifold with branching points" was sharp for tactical choice — concrete enough to falsify, original enough to teach something even if falsified.
The cross-domain pattern that has held across vdW / tactical-choice / SHA-256 / NN-output bonuses (vocabulary consolidates rather than expands under interrogation) MAY hold here too — but the user has signalled willingness for it NOT to hold. MFO is a deeper layer than Spike #24's primitive vocabulary; the relevant ontology might require expansion rather than consolidation. The concertmaster should approach with that openness.
