Spike #42b — Vocabulary falsifier test on 3 candidates + dark-sector-epicycle-perspective hypothesis

Date: 2026-05-17 Research spike artifact. Concertmaster dispatch per user direction following Spike #42's three candidate stance names (A: imprint / B: ring-balance / C: cascade) — falsifier-test each + test the "dark sector epicycle perspective" hypothesis (local-not-universal cascade phasing).

User direction (verbatim, 2026-05-17): "spike 42, do add to our notebooks all 3 candidates, and now try to falsify each one. whos hoodoo stands terra firma against errosion? if each one has some truth that the others lack, they are not all equal, most likely. ring-balance may be best because it also captures that it isn't one way, and if this dark sector material is part of the form/function that makes its shadows in 3D_s, and we see it goes back and forth, as if acting through it's own epicycle perspective, not universally everyone at once, we can maybe find the right word when we find the right understanding as well."

Discipline. Each candidate gets a chain-spec falsifier across 5 dimensions per [[feedback_every_doc_edit_faces_falsification]]. Epicycle-perspective hypothesis tested empirically via two model variants (v1 multiplicative — degenerate; v2 time-shift — canonical). Math-doesn't-lie discipline drove v1 → v2 model fix per [[user_stance_string_theory_instrument_first]]. §1 Bottom line

Best surviving candidate by falsifier-survival: B (ring-balance), 8/10 (80%), zero FAIL verdicts. User's lean is empirically confirmed. Ranking: B > C > A (8/10 > 7/10 > 5/10).

But B is not a clean winner. Each candidate carries truth the others lack — confirming user's prior framing exactly. The linguistic partition cannot be cleanly un-bifurcated by falsifier-testing alone. Per [[user_stance_partition_for_understanding]] 2026-05-17 case-extension: that itself is the load-bearing finding — the unified concept is not yet apprehended.

Thread 2 (epicycle-perspective hypothesis): PARTIAL CONFIRMATION. v2 time-shift model shows sign-flip of df_RD/dt across directions at near-peak epoch (a≈2.14): 2 directions still loop-down-dominant, 35 already loop-up-dominant. At present epoch, max time-shift across sky is ~1.44 Gyr (0.81% of 178 Gyr loop-down period); global rate too dominant for sign-flip at NOW. Mechanism structurally valid; observable signature subtle at canonical ε_AoE.

Per-candidate distinctive truths (each carries something the others lack): - A imprint strongest on F4 (substrate-binding via K_k mapping is direct); fails F5 (universal-simultaneous default; user's epicycle-perspective stance EXPLICITLY rejects "everyone at once" framing) - B ring-balance strongest on F1 (already-canonical native-symmetric pair per [[user_stance_string_theory_instrument_first]]), F4 (loop substrate portable per §20.4 three-regime), F5 (no universal-simultaneous presupposition); weakest on F3 ("ring" surfaces Class I only, not full B-J-N-C-D-E-F weave) and F2 ("balance" connotes net-zero static; current 95%-loop-down is not balanced) - C cascade strongest on F3 (tautologically the structure per [[user_stance_primitives_weave_and_thread]]) and F2 (default-local semantics); fails F1 (directional verb stem like imprint — "reverse cascade" awkward, "un-cascade" non-word, "inverse cascade" is fluid-dynamics jargon with specific narrower meaning)

§3 Epicycle-perspective hypothesis verdict — PARTIAL CONFIRMATION

v1 model anomaly investigated and resolved. v1 used f_RD_local(a, θ) = f_RD_global(a) · (1 + Σ c_k cos(k·sep)) — multiplicatively-degenerate: df_local/dt = df_global/dt · (1 + mod). Sign locked to sign of global rate; model cannot produce sign-flip by construction. Math-doesn't-lie per [[user_stance_string_theory_instrument_first]] drove model fix.

v2 model (canonical): local regions experience time-shifted cosmic trajectories.

where EOC phase shift uses c_k = ε^k / k · sin(k·sep) per [[user_stance_kepler_shape_universal]] Cauchy-form kernel. Each direction sees substrate at slightly-shifted cosmic time — matches [[user_stance_aoe_observer_frame_offset]] off-centre observer reading + [[user_stance_cascade_lives_on_circles]] cyclic-substrate-as-time framing.

Quantitative results at canonical ε_AoE = 0.0506, characteristic time 178 Gyr:

  • Max EOC phase shift across sky: 0.0506 rad (at θ=90°)
  • Max time-shift across sky: 1.44 Gyr (0.81% of loop-down period)
  • Sign-flip at NOW (a=1.0): NO (37/37 directions loop-down dominant; global rate too large)
  • Sign-flip at NEAR-PEAK (a=2.14): YES (2 directions still pre-peak loop-down, 35 already post-peak loop-up — opposite signs)

Verdict: local-not-universal cascade phasing is structurally real, mathematically coherent, and produces observable sign-flips across the sky when global rate approaches zero (near peak, ~15.45 Gyr from now). At present epoch, global loop-down dominates over local-modulation amplitude, so sign-flip is not observable. Hypothesis correctly WEAKENS "universal" framings (imprint default) without MANDATING currently-observable local sign-flips.

§4 Anomalies investigated

§4.1 Anomaly 1 — v1 multiplicative model degenerate

Model could not produce sign-flip by construction. Root cause: multiplicative form factors df_global/dt out of df_local/dt. Resolution: v2 time-shift model (physically correct — each direction sees substrate at shifted cosmic time per off-centre observer kinematic). Both models retained in records; v2 canonical.

§4.2 Anomaly 2 — spatial amplitude 10% in v1 but no sign-flip

Initially surprising — 10% relative amplitude on f_RD suggests substantial modulation, but produced no sign-flip. Investigated to root: amplitude is in f_RD value not in df_RD/dt. Since d/dt [f_g · (1 + mod)] = df_g/dt · (1 + mod), the amplitude is just a positive scaling factor. Anomaly resolved structurally; v2 fix necessary.

§4.3 Anomaly 3 — no sign-flip dependency on ε in v2 sweep

v2 sensitivity test showed sign-flip count at near-peak (2 vs 35) doesn't change across ε_test ∈ [0.05, 0.5]. Investigated: this is because at exact-peak proximity, the sign of df_global/dt is itself near-zero, so even tiny time-shifts swap the sign — the discriminator is dominated by which side of peak each direction lands on, not by the time-shift magnitude. Verdict: real structural property, not numerical artefact. The result is robust.

§5 USER-GATED RECOMMENDATION — two options stand

Option 1 — commit B with explicit sister-clauses (cleaner closure)

  • Canonical: "entropy approximates the loop-up / loop-down balance" (uses already-canonical project vocabulary per [[user_stance_string_theory_instrument_first]])
  • Sister-clause from A (deposit): substrate's accumulated cascade-deposit content IS what ring-balance is balancing
  • Sister-clause from C (cascade structure): the operation balanced across the ring is the B-J-N-C-D-E-F cascade weave per [[user_stance_primitives_weave_and_thread]]
  • Honours [[feedback_no_privileged_primitive_classes]] dissolve-before-promote (uses existing canonical vocabulary)
  • Sister-clauses preserve what A and C contribute that B alone doesn't surface

Option 2 — hold the partition; continue follow-up research

  • Per [[user_stance_partition_for_understanding]] 2026-05-17 case-extension: linguistic partition we cannot un-bifurcate signals incomplete apprehension; unified concept not yet apprehended
  • Record three-candidate finding as-is; no single name commits yet; mathematical structure (c_k = ε^k × K_k(substrate) + local-time-shift via EOC) stands regardless of noun
  • Honest absence preserves epistemic state

Either option keeps the underlying math intact. The structural finding (substrate-binding Cauchy form + local-time-shift mechanism) does not depend on vocabulary commitment.
