Decisive variable is NOT sex per se. It is matrilineal kinship structure (female-philopatric vs male-philopatric vs both-natally-philopatric), which constrains what coalitions can form and how multigenerational knowledge transmission works.
Bonobo is the kinship outlier: kinship-code-3 (male-philopatric, same as chimp), yet behaviorally matriarchal. Bonobo matriarchy is REINVENTED across an unfavorable kin substrate, not inherited.

H_sex (+0.444): matriarchal-binary discriminates but only because chimp is the lone non-matriarchal. Within matriarchal, sex-axis is HETEROGENEOUS: - Hyena + Lemur: female-dominant-by-individual-aggression - Bonobo: female-dominant-via-coalition - Elephant + Orca: matriarch-by-age-and-knowledge-leadership - Mole-rat: queen-driven eusocial
H_kinship (+0.661) — WINNER. Matriarchal clades concentrate at kinship-code 1 (female-philopatric) or 2 (both-philopatric). Bonobo (kinship-code 3) is the outlier — reinvented matriarchy.
H_coalition (−0.341) FAILS: only Bonobo + Hyena have intersex-coalition. Elephant/Orca/Lemur lack it. Coalition is NOT the matriarchal universal.
H_ecology (−0.362) FAILS: lethal-rates span full range within matriarchal (Hyena 2.5 / Lemur 2.0 / Elephant 0 / Orca 0.26 / Bonobo 0).
H_compound — INFORMAL BEST: sharing-shape jointly determined by kinship substrate + ecological niche + post-reproductive longevity (Elephant + Orca form a "menopause-mammals matriarch-as-knowledge-repository" sub-cluster distinct from Hyena/Lemur "matriarch-as-aggressive-dominant").
§4 Cleanest single discriminator at matriarchal-vs-patriarchal resolution¶
Round 1 found Class L lethal-partition cleanest at bonobo-vs-chimp resolution. Round 2 finds Class E catalog asymmetry cleaner at matriarchal-vs-patriarchal resolution: - f9 food-sharing: M=0.6 vs C=0.0 - f10 tool-sharing: C=1.0 vs M=0.0 - f11 allomothering: M=1.0 vs C=0.0

§5 Six anomalies investigated to root¶
- Bonobo male-philopatric like chimp yet matriarchal → reinvented matriarchy across unfavorable kin substrate; food-superabundance + female cross-group cooperation enables.
- Hyena lethal aggression revised upward mid-round per Boydston 2001 clan-wars + Pack 2020 female-infanticide (24% of juvenile mortality). Math-doesn't-lie self-correction; verdict held (matriarchy ≠ low-lethal-aggression).
- Orca infanticide documented (Towers 2018, 1 event in 5300+ encounters); f2=0.26. Not categorically zero.

- Within female-philopatric matriarchal cluster (Elephant + Hyena + Lemur, all kinship-code-1), what discriminates? Body-size × ecological-niche × group-size?
- Bonobo reinvention substrate-portable, or bonobo-specific? Add Atelids (spider monkeys); other lemur species; possibly hyrax.
- Post-reproductive-longevity cluster (Elephant + Orca + human) — distinct sub-niche? Do they share a sharing-shape signature Hyena+Lemur don't?
- Mole-rat boundary case — include eusocial mammals (Damaraland mole-rat = second eusocial mammal; meerkats = cooperative-breeding) as separate cluster, or boundary cases?
- Class E catalog asymmetry deep-dive — round 1 found Class L lethal-partition cleanest at bonobo-vs-chimp; round 2 finds Class E asymmetry cleanest at matriarchal-vs-patriarchal. Dispatch round 3 specifically on Class E?
